This is an extreme expression of Colombian specialty coffee, with an unmistakable cherry aroma as soon as you open the bag. Sweet notes of cherry candy and ripe strawberry lead into a vibrant cup, with layers of vanilla, cola and juicy fruit. As the coffee cools, the intensity softens into a smooth, rich sweetness reminiscent of dark chocolate and cherry milkshake. The addition of fresh cherries during fermentation creates a distinctive fruit character, making this one of our most expressive Funky releases yet.
Jairo Arcila is a third-generation coffee producer from Quindío, Colombia, and a familiar name in our portfolio. His sons, Carlos and Felipe Arcila, are the co-founders of Cofinet, our export partners and passionate advocates for Colombian specialty coffee.
They grow coffee across the renowned coffee-growing region of Quindio, recognised by UNESCO as part of the Coffee Cultural Landscape in 2011. Surrounded by lush forest at the northern end of the Andes, the area benefits from fertile volcanic soils and abundant fresh water. These natural conditions provide an excellent foundation for quality-focused coffee production.

This exceptional lot begins with carefully selected, ripe coffee cherries. After harvest, the fruit undergoes rigorous hand-sorting and flotation to remove underripe or defective cherries. The selected coffee then enters a 48-hour dry anaerobic fermentation, with fresh cherries added directly to the sealed tanks. This co-fermentation allows the added fruit to influence the end flavour, developing an intense cherry character and concentrated sweetness. The result is an adventurous expression of modern coffee processing, with vibrant fruit and a distinctive candy-like profile.
